Here are the answers to many of the questions we get regarding the Junior Development Programme
How much does it cost?
There is no set fee for the course, the Club does take donations and these go towards the costs of running the programme. One of the main costs involved with the programme is participant licencing at $25 each.
When is it on?
Khanakids is currently run over four separate days in the summer season (November-March). On each day there is a morning session and an afternoon session
The morning session runs from 9AM to 12:30PM
The afternoon session runs from 1PM to 4:30PM
For current course dates please contact the us.
What skill level does my child need to have?
We often have participants with some experience, particularly with automatic cars, for these students the programme gives them a great introduction to manual cars. No driving experience is necessary, and we often find that younger participants pick up driving very quickly.
Can my child do the programme more than once?
The programme utilises a Motorsports Australia Introductory Licence, these can only be used by students once in a 12-month period. Due to the limited numbers in our programme our preference is to provide the opportunity to as many new participants as we can.
Why is the programme run on grass?
Grass provides a surface that is forgiving on our cars and reduces stress on the components. Grass is undulating, changes throughout the day and gives students variability, providing them with something more challenging than a flat even road. The grass field also provide lots of run off making it very safe.
Where is it held?
The programme is run at Baskerville Raceway Old Beach and usually uses the grassed areas and sometimes the track itself. In both cases consideration is given to ensure the safety of both our participants and our instructors. We do our best to remove all un-necessary risks.
What age does my child need to be?
The minimum age is 12 years old and depending on the size of the student. Sometimes for smaller 12-year old’s they may not be able to reach controls, unfortunately in these instances they may need to wait a little longer to come along.
Who are the instructors?
All our instructors are involved in many forms of motorsport, come from many car clubs, and all have many years of experience driving cars. Our instructors are involved with the programme because they want to help young people gain valuable life experience. We also follow legislated requirements regarding WWVP accreditation.
What kind of cars are used?
The programme currently only teaches using manual cars. We currently utilise a variety of cars but our preferred vehicle for the task is the Subaru.
How many participants do you take at a time?
The programme currently has a maximum capacity of 12.
Do you take bookings for groups?
